The Tonopah Test Range is a restricted military camp located about 30 miles southeast of Tonopah, Nevada. It is part of the northern fringe of the Nellis Range, measuring 625 sq mi. Tonopah Test Range is located about 70 miles northwest of Groom Dry Lake, the home of the Area 51 facility. Like the Groom Lake facility, Tonopah is a site of interest to conspiracy theorists, mostly for its use of experimental and classified aircraft. It is currently used for nuclear weapons stockpile reliability testing, research and development of fusing and firing systems, and testing nuclear weapon delivery systems. The airspace comprises restricted area R-4809 of the Nevada Test and Training Range and is often used for military training.
John Lear: CIA Pilot Claims
CIA pilot, John Lear, alleges that a clean nuclear device was used to create a giant chamber under Pauite Mesa in Area 52. That particular facility is capable of housing 25,000 people or troops while having a large capacity of storage to house “unidentified” or “experimental” aircrafts. He says he heard part of this from a cement truck driver who worked out there. Lear stated:
“It would take four hours to get to the bottom, dump the cement, then wind his way back up. For some reason, he disappeared off the face of the earth after he told us that story,” Lear continued.
Lear alleges there’s a high speed underground train that runs from Area 52 to Las Vegas. He stated in an interview:
“They’ll look down and it will be forest or desert or natural landscape, and all of a sudden it will unzip like this and they will see a runway and then the landscape zips back up and it looks like normal,” he explained.
There is some evidence for one of Lear’s suspicions, one that dates back to the claims of former government scientist Bob Lazar, who claimed he worked on flying saucers at a test site called S-4. Nellis confirmed to the I-Team that there is more than one S-4 on the Test Range, and one of them is at TTR. Workers have claimed the S-4 inside Area 52 requires special entry. It’s said that highly advanced radar research is one project. Military watchdogs groups deny there’s a big underground operation.
Mysterious Aircraft Spotted at Area 52
A mysterious aircraft spotted at a top-secret US military base, led to an uproar pointing in googles direction. The image was spotted via google maps and when contacted with the information, Google Maps “refused” to update it’s satellite imagery of the area for more than eight years. A mysterious aircraft at a top-secret US military base has been blurred on Google Maps, which opened the area up to speculation. The unidentified object was spotted at a base equally as secretive as its sister base, area 51. At this time, the online satellite images shows a couple of dry lake beds within the Tonopah Test Range.

AREA 51
Area 51 is the common name of a highly classified United States Air Force (USAF) facility within the Nevada Test and Training Range. A remote detachment administered by Edwards Air Force Base, the facility is officially called Homey Airport (XTA/KXTA) or Groom Lake[2] (after the salt flat next to its airfield). Details of its operations are not made public, but the USAF says that it is an open training range,[3] and it is commonly thought to support the development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems.[4][3] The USAF acquired the site in 1955, primarily for flight testing the Lockheed U-2 aircraft.[5]
The intense secrecy surrounding the base has made it the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and a central component of unidentified flying object (UFO) folklore.[6][7] It has never been declared a secret base, but all research and occurrences in Area 51 are Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).[8] The CIA publicly acknowledged the base’s existence on June 25, 2013, following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed in 2005, and declassified documents detailing its history and purpose.[9]
